The Bobrick 251-4 is the WingIt by Bobrick grab bar fastening system, with wings that spring out automatically behind the wall. The standard WingIt is for walls framed with 2″ x 3″ or larger studs and Bobrick standard grab bars, and it accommodates wall substrates up to 1-1⁄2″ thick. It installs through a 1-1⁄4″ hole drilled at the center point of each grab bar flange and is tightened with a 7⁄16″ nutdriver. Bobrick states it exceeds building code criteria for grab bars in 5⁄8″ drywall with tile, stone or panels. It should not be installed into bare 1⁄2″ drywall when meeting commercial building codes, or into wet or deteriorating walls.
